Lake Pleasant Campground Evacuation
Must Be Evacuated By 5 PM On Wednesday
Monday, August 18, 2025, 0900, Long Lake Fire update: Despite receiving between 15 and 20 millimetres of rainfall overnight, the Long Lake wildfire complex in Annapolis County has expanded to approximately 2,063 hectares (~5,100 acres) and remains uncontrolled. The Department of Natural Resources reports that multiple campers and trailers have been destroyed, but fortunately, no homes have been damaged.
Firefighting efforts continue unabated, with air support provided by 4 planes from the Northwest Territories and 2 contracted helicopters. On the ground, DNR personnel work alongside firefighters from Ontario and Prince Edward Island. Some local crews, who have been fighting the fire for days, are taking a much-needed break.
As of Monday evening, on-site ground personnel currently consist of 93 Department of Natural Resources (DNR) firefighters, along with 22 personnel from Ontario, 5 from Prince Edward Island, and 15 local firefighters. Air support is furnished by 4 planes from the Northwest Territories and 2 contracted helicopters, with DNR aircraft prioritizing initial attack operations to promptly suppress new fire starts and establish control.
